1. Any dog, in the opinion of the training instructor, is uncontrollable, unpredictable, or aggressive, will be removed from a general enrollment class and referred for private instruction or specialty behavior classes.
2. Any dog that deliberately marks (urination/defecation) within the facility will be immediately removed from the class and automatically disqualified as a therapy dog. Submission wetting by the (5th) week of class, if the handler decides to continue with the evaluation, the dog will be considered not qualified, however, it could be reassessed at a later time.
3. Handlers must be at least 16 years of age, if approved by the board. Anyone aged 16 - 17 participating in class must have a participating parent or responsible adult in attendance during class.
4. Children less than 18 years of age must always be accompanied by a non-participating adult while on the premises AND during all visits.
5. Handlers must be appropriately dressed in business casual attire with closed toe and heel shoes or sneakers. flip-flops, slides, and cut-off shorts are prohibited.
6. All dogs must remain on leash and leash is never to be dropped when on the premises of the training facilities or out on visits.
7. Neck buckle collars and head harnesses (i.e. Halti, Gentle Leader, and Snoot Loop) are acceptable control systems. Dogs will be required to wear a harness that will have Triple Crown Pawsitivity and dogs name listed on it. (Will be told where to purchased them after completing and passing therapy dog course.)
8. All owners must clean up after their dogs when on the premises of the training facilities.
9. Female dogs in heat should not attend class. Owners my request a transfer to the next available class.
10. Any animal, that shows signs of aggression, is considered aggressive, attempts to bite, or bites during a training session will be immediately removed from the class. A bite incident will be reported to local
authorities and your veterinarian.
11. Any demonstration of hitting, striking, or strong correction by the handler is grounds for immediate dismissal from the course and no refund will b6 issued.
12. Class is required for anyone who has not previously participated in the class. If a handler has participated in the class and wants to register with another animal, they will be allowed to assess with the additional animal without participating in the class. However, if the handler and the new animal are not successful, then the handler and animal must participate in the class.
Absentee Policy:
1. Owners should sigh up for a class session that they can attend.
2. Attendance by the primary handler at the first two classes is critical for the team's success.
3. Absences of more than one (1) will prelude a team from completing the assessment.
Refund Policy: Will be determined by the hosting organization.
